Ormond Beach, November 23, 2014 - A golf tournament held to raise funds for Food Brings Hope exceeded its goal Saturday by bringing in more than $25,000.
“We raised well above our expectation,” said Ali Kargar of ICI Homes, one of the golf invitational’s organizers. The group was hoping to raise $20,000.
Food Brings Hope is an organization that benefits about 500 children in Volusia County schools. The organization was started six years ago by ICI Homes’ senior vice president of information systems, Forough B. Hosseini.
“We appreciate the much needed donations generated through these events,” Hosseini said. “This is exactly the kind of community-minded spirit we believe will help break the hunger cycle among children in Volusia County.”
Kargar said 18 teams took to the Ormond Beach greens of the Club de Bonmont course in Plantation Bay. Players were treated to breakfast and a day of golf with a caddy for each team.
He said the funds raised are going to do a lot of good for a lot of people.
“During this time of the year, with Thanksgiving just around the corner and Christmas coming up, this will help put smiles on a lot of faces,” Kargar said. “It’s going to feed a lot of people.”
100% of Food Brings Hope overhead is paid for by the Hosseini Family Foundation!
100% of donations to Food Brings Hope directly benefit students.
