New Smyrna Beach Middle

The New Smyrna Beach Middle TeenZone program currently has 15 members, boys and girls in 6th, 7th and 8th grade. Meetings are held on every other Tuesday from 4:30 – 6:00.

Students are fed a healthy snack (carrots & dip, apples, pretzels, hummus, salsa with chips), then we do an activity such as painting rocks, making ornaments, Valentines Cards for nursing home patients, play outside with beach ball volleyball, integer bingo, learn card games, work on homework, mentoring, different arts and crafts). We have a nice dinner.  Sponsor Tina Hardy cooks many of the meals such as chicken and yellow rice, turkey and gravy, ham, hot dogs and beans, spaghetti and salad. Sometimes we order fried chicken, subs, Chinese food.

We want to give kids attention they may not be getting and make school a positive, fun experience. We also make sure they have the supplies that they need for school such as backpacks, notebooks, pencils, markers, etc. I also arrange to give them school uniform shirts and check to see if they need shoes or other clothing items.
