Food Brings Hope at Taylor Middle High school for the 2013-2014 school year was working in conjunction with the Halifax Urban Ministries by providing groceries to over twenty families each week. This is the second year Taylor has been involved in the FBH reach out program. Our Guidance Counselor Mr. Dave Stowers, has lead the Taylor program for the past two years. With regrets , he will be retiring this June but we will continue to provide groceries for the 2014-2015 school year under the direction of our new Activities Director Maria Jaimes. Over 1000 bags of groceries have been delivered over the past two years. We look forward to working with FBH and HUM serving the needs of our community.
FBH also provided field trip incentives for students during the school year. Our students attended the Holiday concert and the Dance program at the Performing Arts Center. Transportation to and from the events was also provided. Tee shirts were distributed to students keeping up their grades while also attending tutoring in the afternoon. Over 68% of the students participating in the tutoring program showed gains in their grades for the nine weeks. As we tackle the transportation shortage on the west side of the county for next year, it is our goal to increase the number of students participating in the FBH program.
Thanks for an outstanding program reaching out to the Northwest portion of Volusia County meeting the needs of our community. Ron Pagano, Principal
