Food Brings Hope was founded in 2007 with the vision that every child would be given a chance to reach their full potential. Through the extraordinary support of a generous community, Food Brings Hope, Inc., a 501(c)3 public charity, now touches the lives of more than 400 school aged children. These children are able to benefit from several key initiatives:
Our after-school programs serve more than 400 students in nine Volusia and Flagler County Schools, providing nourishing meals, enhanced academics, rewards for improvement and opportunities to participate in sporting and cultural events. We also offer hands-on banking, college tours, and opportunities to discover possible career routes. School teachers and principals testify that these activities contribute to improved test scores, reduced disciplinary referrals and absenteeism, and an increase in the number of students completing each grade level.
As part of our efforts to help students reach their fullest potential, we also provide FBHonors programs in two of our schools for the highest achieving students and a supplemental Drop The Box program to help combat food insecurity.
